Queensway will gain a new and exciting landmark, The William. Designed by world-famous, award-winning architects Foster + Partners, The William has a breathtaking glass and timber façade that reflects not just the iconic architectural flavour of this beloved quarter of London, but some of the most innovative design and engineering in the world.
Every part of The William’s design champions exceptional sustainability credentials: from the innovative timber construction (the largest currently underway in London) to the lush planting of its streetscape, terraces and rooftops contributing to Queensway’s regreening; to the array of luxury homes, retail, offices and restaurants, packed with the ultimate in smart-living opportunities.
Named after William Whiteley, the founder of the original Whiteley’s Department Store, The William sits opposite The Whiteley, which will open in 2024, with the full regeneration of Queensway being complete in 2026.
The whole transformation has been created with wellness at its core. The result is a landmark that delivers huge, light-filled interconnecting spaces, richly biodiverse terraces and rooftops, and organic materials and designs that are a joy for everyone to experience.
Alex Michelin, Co-Founder of Finchatton, added:
“It is amazing to see this new vision for Queensway being realised, and The William is the next chapter in the area’s exciting future. The opportunity to regenerate this vibrant high street with our partner Mark and create new homes, shops and work spaces which are beautifully designed and sustainable is a real honour. The Whiteley and The William perfectly encapsulate our vision for Queensway – the revitalisation of the street’s heritage alongside the very best in contemporary architecture and construction. We are going to make it a fantastic place for people to live, work, socialise and have fun for generations to come.”
